In a new interview withVariety, Levy was asked if it was ever true that Affleck was almost close to reprising his role as Daredevil from the 2003 film forDeadpool & Wolverine. Levy revealed they were looking at a short-list of 70 Marvel cameos forDeadpool & Wolverine, and Affleck’s Daredevil was initially someone they looked at, but there were never any negotiations or scheduling attempts to try to get him in.
Early on, when we were looking at a 70-name menu of Marvel characters, Daredevil was on one of those lists, but never since those earliest of conversations, and never to the point of outreach or offers or anything like that. We made contact with everyone featured in the Fox tribute reel halfway through our end credits — and that’s dozens of actors who have been a part of that legacy. That was fun to build a love letter to those years, those characters, and all the actors who played them.

Ben Affleck’s Daredevil Return In Deadpool & Wolverine Rumors Explained
Back whenDeadpool & Wolverinewas filming, there were rumors floating around that Affleck had been on set and would reprise his role as Daredevil. Not long after, it was reported that Jennifer Garner was set to reprise the role of Elektra, which fueled the rumors even more about Affleck’s supposed Daredevil return. But in the end, with no set photos or concrete proof, the Affleck rumors went away. Instead, his Daredevil was referenced inDeadpool & Wolverine.
It should be taken into account that Marvel Studios actually went to the lengths of putting out fake leaks forDeadpool & Wolverine. According to producer Wendy Jacobson, there werefakeDeadpool & Wolverinespoilerscreated to try to throw off some of the usual suspects that would leak major plot points or character appearances on social media. Perhaps Affleck coming back as Daredevil was something they planted as a fake story once they knew that they wouldn’t be able to feature him, though it’s not known for certain.
As much fun as it would have been to see Affleck back in the Daredevil suit after all these years,Deadpool & Wolverinedid not disappoint with their cameos.
