How to Enter the Desolate Deep in Fisch
To reach theDesolate Deep, you’ll first need to acquirediving gear. You can buy theBasic Diving Gearat the Moosewood docks (next to the Shipwright) forC$3,000, or you can buy theAdvanced Diving Gearat thebuoyright above theDesolate Deep entrance(-800, 130, -3100) forC$15,000(buy the GPS tool on the chair at the Moosewood pond for C$100 to see coordinates).
In general, you’re able to get absolutely anywhere with thebasic gear, though there is ahigher chance of running out of air. If that happens,leave the gameandrejointo avoid death-incurred money loss. Also, don’t forget toequip the gearbefore you go diving.
Now, to reach theDesolate Deep entrance(-800, 130, -3100), you’ll have tosail past theStatue of Sovereigntyand into the Deep Ocean (enable POI headersin themenuto find it easily). Continue going towards the coordinates until you see ared buoy.
Once you reach the buoy, I suggest youincrease screen brightness(there is a menu option for that), andzoom into first-person view, as navigating the caves can be difficult otherwise. After that, diveunderwaterand into thegiant hole at the bottomof the ocean.Keep divinguntil you reach the bottom and can see asignwith a warning.
From thesign, you’re able to goleftorright. The path to theleftleads to thesecret merchant areawhere you canfish with Crab Cages, get theReinforced Rod, and othergear.
The path to therightleads to theDesolate Pocket, which is the main area in the Desolate Deep. Note that on the path to the Desolate Pocket and within that zone, there aresea minesthatinstantly kill youif you touch them. So, clear away from those.
Desolate Deep Areas, Items, and NPC Locations
Secret Merchant Area – Reinforced Rod
Thesecret merchant areais one of the three main zones within the Desolate Deep, and it’s where you can buy theReinforced Rod(C$20,000), which is capable of fishing inevery harmful liquidyou encounter inFisch. To reach it, follow thenarrow pathway to the left of the signat the bottom of the Desolate Deep entrance. Other things you can shop for here are:
Desolate Pocket – Desolate Deep Bestiary Spot & Main Area
TheDesolate Pocketis the area within the Desolate Deep you can reach by following themine-riddled pathto therightof the sign at the bottom of the entrance. It’s the place where you can get all the fish from theDesolate Deep bestiary. It also leads to the next area, which is theBrine Pool.
On the island in the middle, you can find themerchantto whom you can sell fish, and there is aMirror Portal(up the ladder behind the merchant) that lets youteleport to Sunstone Islandinstantly. Here is a list of things you can buy in this area:
There is also anInn Keeperthere who allows you to set theDesolate Pocketas yourspawn area. If you plan on staying here and grinding the whole bestiary, I suggest setting this as your spawn.
In the Desolate Pocket, there are also severalfishabundance spotsyou can farm. Here is the list of them, including some other spots that seem to work well in general:
Desolate Brine Pool – Brine Pool Bestiary Spot & Aurora Totem
TheDesolate Brine Poolis the mostsecluded spotin the Desolate Deep and one of the hardest to reach inFisch. To get there, you’ll need aGlider, which you can buy at the Desolate Pocket island. Then, go to thePhantom Ray abundance spot(-1685, -235, -3085) nearby andclimbtherocks behind it.
There will betwo ledgesyou’ll need to traverse with theGlider(Jump + Glider while in the air) and then you’ll be able to climb the rest of the way to the top just byjumping. Then, follow the caves until you reach the Desolate Brine Pool.
Just as you enter the Brine Pool, you may turnleftand find ahidden passagetowards theAurora Totem. This totem costsC$500,000and can be used to start theAurora eventacross the map, whichincreases the chance of mythical fish by 500%. Also, to fish in the Brine Pool, you’ll need theReinforced Rod.
How to Find the Trident Rod Location in The Desolate Deep
TheTrident Rodis hidden in a secret cave you need to reach by following anunderwater tunnel in the Desolate Pocket. Thetunnel entrance is at -1470, -305, -2545on the cave wall on the side of the area opposite the Phantom Ray abundance spot. There is a platform on that side of the island pointing directly at it.
