Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man Chapter #187Chainsaw Manhas kicked up the action in its latest chapters, pinning Pochita against Agingin what might be the series' first take down of a Primal Devil. While it isn’t the first time fans have been treated to a fight featuring Pochita in his true form, the battle marks asignificant change in the relationship between him and Denji. Whereas the ‘Hero of Hell’ Chainsaw Man only ever appeared when his teenage version was out of commission, Chapter #187, titled simply, “Barf!”, showcases the old friends working in tandem.

Denji and Pochita have not worked together in such a way since before the two merged into a single Devil Hunter, and their current battle is both cathartic and strangely wholesome. While referenced by Makima early in Part One, and only further given substance by his two appearances throughout the series, the chapter also confirms the theory that not only is Pochita very much alive within Denji, but the two are capable of communication as well.

Denji and Pochita Team Up For the First Time Since Chapter One

The Two Chainsaw Men Are Fighting Together in Separate Bodies

Though Denji and Pochita are technically working together throughout the entirety ofChainsaw Man, the series' most recent entry places the two fighting as separate individuals for the first time since the debut chapter. Each time Pochita appeared in his armored form prior to the current battle, Denji was locked away somewhere inside the Chainsaw Devil, protected by his friend. Chapter #187 is the series’very first fight to feature Denji being aware of full-power Pochita’s presence.

Their communication also sheds some light on prior common misunderstandings and theories surrounding the two Chainsaw Men. Denji and Pochita are seen communicating throughout the story even after the latter becomes his heart, prompting fans to believethat the conversations were all one-sided imaginings by Denji. Seeing as the two are able to communicate via a shared body in recent chapters, despite their being in different places, it seems that Denji and Pochita may have been capable of speaking to each other all along.

Pochita might have become Denji’s heart early on inChainsaw Man, but the current understanding one another has of each other’s actionssignals that Pochita wasn’t just dormant in his chest all this time. And now, the Chainsaw Devil is preparing to make Denji throw up another semi-digested Devil to assist in the fight.

Help Is On the Way in Chainsaw Man’s Upcoming Chapters

Denji Is Preparing to Throw Up Reinforcements

Pochita may possess incomprehensible strength, but in the face of a Primal Devil, even he could use some assistance. In previous chapters, Denji was forced to throw up the Snow and Bitterness Devils that were eaten by Pochita during the Sushi arc. And now, with attacks completely incapable of harming the Aging Devil, Denji has yet another genius idea, andtells Pochita to make him throw up another Devil to help in the battle. Unfortunately, the chapter ends before revealing what Devil that might be, and there are quite a few possibilities.

The most likely will be Octopus, the final Devil Pochita had eaten along with Bitterness, Snow, and Mouth. Yoshida disappeared following the erasure of Octopus, and the Devil’s return would likely usher the mysterious Devil Hunter back into the frame.Another interesting possibility might be one of Yoru’s children, like Nuclear Weapons. If children are their parents' property, as War Devil so devilishly claimed just a few chapters ago, the return of one of her children may just force her and Asa out of Aging’s World.
