Most boss fights inBlack Myth: Wukonghave a straightforward objective, but there’s one encounter in Chapter Two that’s a little more complicated. When the Destined One encounters the Second Prince and the King of Flowing Sands,he has to take on both opponents at once, and the order in which he does so affects more than just battle strategy. The game doesn’t make it clear in advance, but it’s possible tomiss out on either a rewardor a unique cutscene depending on the approach to the fight.
The Destined One first comes upon the hulking Second Rat Prince and his diminutive father, the King of Flowing Sands in a barren desert courtyard. Here, the King is lecturing his son on the necessity of toughing it out until their master returns. When he catches a whiff of the Destined One, however, the King rejoices in the arrival of fresh meat, and the rodents immediately prepare for combat with a foe that proves to be more of a challenge than they expected.

The most challenging encounters in Black Myth: Wukong can cause a problem for anyone, and a few are uniquely punishing in memorable ways.
You Should Kill The King Of Flowing Sands First
An Exclusive Spirit Transformation Can Be Missed
It can be tempting to go for the hulking threat of the Second Prince of Flowing Sands before the King, butkilling the Second Prince first will lose out on a key reward inBlack Myth: Wukong. If the Destined One kills the King of Flowing Sands in the encounter, he’ll still have to fight the Second Prince after, but he’ll receive the Second Rat Prince spirit for doing so. This spirit can briefly stagger foes with a mace to the head, and its passive effect moderately increases attack when the Destined One is low on health.
What Happens To The Destined One In Black Myth: Wukong
The Destined One’s journey in Black Myth: Wukong sees him overcome plenty of trials, but the ultimate payoff for his adventures might be worth it.
This can lead to a somewhat tricky fight, as the Second Prince of Flowing Sands gets more intense after the Destined One kills his father. It’s best to reduce the Second Prince to low health before focusing on the King of Flowing Sandsand turning back to quickly finish him off after taking out the King. When using this approach, it’s still a very manageable fight, as the two don’t work together with the same aggression that thetoughest duo boss fightsbring to the table.

Killing Black Myth: Wukong’s Second Rat Prince First
A Special Cutscene Is A Nice Consolation Prize
Killing the Second Prince of Flowing Sands first loses out on the Second Rat Prince spirit, so it’s definitely not the right choice forBlack Myth: Wukongcompletionists, but it does have its own perks. It immediately makes for an easier fight, as the King of Flowing Sands runs off after his large adult son is defeated. There’s also a unique (and memorable) cutscene that follows, in which the King of Flowing Sands dies to his own hubris without the need for the Destined One to bring any more attacks into the picture.
Black Myth: Wukong Desperately Needs One Game Mode In An Update
Black Myth: Wukong could seriously benefit from an update that makes experiencing the game’s highlights easier for those who have beaten the game.
If the Second Prince of Flowing Sands is killed first, the King of Flowing Sands ends up calling the First Prince of the Flowing Sands to fight the Destined One before his demise. This encounter provides the Arhat Gold Piece, a key item that’s necessary to access the secret area in Chapter Two ofBlack Myth: Wukong. If the Destined One kills the King of Flowing Sands first, a Pungent Flesh Chunk key item will drop that can still be used to summon the First Prince, so that encounter can still be found through either method.

Chapter Two’s secret area rewards the Destined One with an item that helps in Chapter Two’s challenging final boss fight, so it’s worth pursuing.
As far as missable content inBlack Myth: Wukonggoes, one spirit isn’t a huge deal, and the Second Rat Prince arguably isn’t as useful as some otheroptions like the Wandering Wight Spirit. The additional cutscene that plays on the other route is also a nice benefit, so it’s easy not to mourn the loss. All the same, there’s more to gain from killing the King of Flowing Sands first, so it’s best for the Destined One to hold off on taking down the Second Rat Prince in order to have the most completeBlack Myth: Wukongplaythrough.
