Assassin’s Creed Shadows, like many anAssassin’s Creedgame before it, has a “Wanted” system that occasionally comes to bear on your gameplay. In short, after committing a series of crimes in plain sight, either Naoe or Yasukewill effectively become fugitives. Becoming Wanted has an adverse effect on stealth, combat, and travel, and can make it significantly more difficult to complete your major objectives.
Although the ins and outs of the Wanted status are explained on screen the first time you achieve it,the pop-up window is brief in both time and wording. I could never find a sufficient explanation of how to get rid of the Wanted status within the persistent tutorial section ofAC Shadows' codex. Therefore, these are all the differences I noticed while playing under the Wanted status, and what I found to be the most effective methods of removing it.

What The Wanted Status Means In AC Shadows
How To Become Wanted & What It Changes
Again, becoming Wanted means that the authorities in a particular region have taken notice of Naoe or Yasuke’s crimes, and have made it a goal to bring them to justice. So, in effect, you’ll be accosted by guards even when walking through non-restricted areas, like public streets or major roads. This makes it a lot harder to get around, as you’re pretty much under constant threat of random encounters, even when you’re not actively doing anything wrong.
Best PC Settings For Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a demanding game on PC, but understanding the settings makes it easier to decide which trade-offs are worthwhile.
Enemies are plentiful in the open world, and they can easily swarm and overwhelm you, especially when playing as Naoe. They’re subject to the same stealth system as everyone else, though, so you can still avoid combat by sneaking around. The biggest issue is thatconstant combat is a drain on your resources. You could end up burning through all your rations and tools before you even get to the enemy outpost you want to infiltrate, forcing you toreturn to a hideoutand restock.

An important aspect of the Wanted status to note, however, is thatit’s specific to regionand character. When you become Wanted as Naoe in Omi, for example, guards will only attack you while you’re playing as Naoe in Omi.
How To Get Rid Of The Wanted Status
Get Out Of Town
To get rid of the Wanted status, the first option available to you is tosimply leave the region until things cool down. If there are any main quests, side activities,or optional assassination targetsin other regions that you’ve been waiting to complete, becoming Wanted is a great cue to go after them. Like most things inAC Shadows, the Wanted status resets itself at the end of every season - roughly every two hours of gameplay.
you’re able to view your progress through the current season by looking at the compass icon in the upper right corner of the map screen. You may also be able to trigger a season change by holding down right on the D-Pad.

However, simply running away from the region where you’re Wanted can be incredibly disruptive. Usually, you become Wanted while pursuing a particular objective; it can be annoying to set that aside, even if only temporarily. Thankfully, you do have a couple of other options to get rid of the Wanted status.
Switch Characters
If you don’t want to skip town, you can also switch charactersto get around your Wanted status. This is useful if you want to continue going after the same objective, albeit with a different playstyle. Personally, I found that the quickest and cheapest way to get rid of the Wanted status on one character was to make the other one Wanted.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review: A Gorgeous Japan That Plays It Too Safe
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows is easy on the eyes, but a generally basic simulation, scant upgrades, and bland side activities weaken the effect.
If you do prefer to play as one character over the other, you may always swap characters, get the other character Wanted, and then swap back immediately. This takes a little less time than leaving the region, but it’s still disruptive.

Scout It Out
Finally, if all else fails, you’re able to also assign some of your scouts to “Remove alerts” - get rid of your Wanted status- in a particular region. This typically burns through two of your scout slots, though, which is quite a commitment. You’ll be using scouts constantly to find quest objectives, and two of them is a big expenditure that you might not be able to spare, especially near the end of a season.
There are other ways torefresh your scout slots, however: you may either pay 200 mon at any hideout or kakurega, recruit a new one via story quests, or help a random stranger and choose “Scout Intel” as your reward. Most of these are unreliable, though, so I’d only recommend using this option if you know you can afford the 400 mon you’ll need to replenish the two spent scout slots.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Level Cap Explained
You can level up in Assassin’s Creed Shadows all the way to level 60, which is slightly higher than past Assassin’s Creed installments.
As far as I can tell, though, these are the only options available when it comes to dealing with your Wanted status. It can greatly affect the difficulty of every aspect of gameplay, so you should always seek to get rid of the Wanted status as soon as possible inAssassin’s Creed Shadows.
