What This Means For Severance Season 2
Season 2’s Numbers Could Be Even Bigger
While this data is impressive enough forSeveranceseason 1, the data is even more hopeful for season 2. The series has already out-earned whatSlow Horsesmanaged in a similar timeframe. Parrot Analytics' Entertainment Industry Strategist, Brandon Katz, pointed out that the series sustained its numbers during a 12-month period after the season 1 finale, revealing its “long tail of value for the streamer.” Katz felt this had a good bearing on season 2, noting:
All of this, plus its healthy pre-release demand trends, sets the stage for a ‘break out sequel’ type of performance for Season 2, which would help Apple fill the anchor series void withoutTed Lasso.

Ted Lassowas an incredibly successful series for Apple TV+, earning Emmy nominations and generating an estimated $609.4 million in revenue from Q3 to Q4 in 2024. IfSeverancecomes anywhere close to mirroring this success, it will be a huge win for Apple TV+ and likely encourage the streamer to renewSeverancefor season 3. So far,Severanceseason 2 is incredibly well-reviewed(with a96% Rotten Tomatoesscore), so the chances that it will continue to do well on the streamer are high.

Severanceseason 1’s revenue report highlights how Apple TV+’s success as a streamer may be more than one would think. Launched in 2019, Apple TV+ has not had nearly as much time to evolve as something like Netflix or Prime Video. That said, its shows are fairly consistently well-reviewed and getting increasingly popular in the cultural milieu. IfSeveranceseason 2 lives up to its full potential, the seriescould help to further establish Apple TV+ as the next big streaming service.
