Summary
WhileFalloutfans were originally limited to a smaller pool of gamers who have enjoyed the series at some point in the franchise’s history, with theintroduction of theFalloutTV show, a whole new audience has an interest in the lore and story of the universe. WhileFalloutfactionslike the Brotherhood of Steel and the pseudo-remnants of the NCR debuted along with the show in April on Amazon Prime, there are several other factions and entire species within the games that have yet to be explored.
Although Ghouls are obviously a central theme, other entities like mutants and Synths never made an appearance in its eight-episode run. That said, there’s an even deeper-cut “faction” of creatures that have had a role in the vast majority ofFalloutgames that aren’t talked about much — either because of their limited impact on the game’s overall story or their complex origins that could conflict with canon and create issues with the main narrative of the games.

Entire Fallout Timeline Explained: When Every Fallout Game Takes Place In Canon
Although each game in the Fallout series functions as a mostly standalone story, they each have their place in the franchises' canon timeline.
Aliens Have Played A Role Throughout Many Fallout Games
A Curious & Hard-To-Find Game Inclusion
To some, aliens fit in the retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic Atomic Age of theFalloutfranchise, but to others, it takes focus away from the main narrative of human vs. human conflict.Aliens have appeared in some form inFallout 1-3,New Vegas,Fallout 4, andFallout 76. In theFalloutuniverse, several different types of aliens make an appearance, but themost predominant race are the Zeta aliens, which were further fleshed out in theFallout 3DLC and expansion,Mothership Zeta.
InMothership Zeta, the Lone Wanderer gets abducted, and the DLC takes place on the alien ship.

In the very firstFallout, the aliens made a minor appearance during the special encounter called “Alien Ship.” During this encounter, the player can find a UFO covered in sand with the words “Property of Area 51, return if found” on it. There are also two aliens, one with an alien blaster. While this is the extent of the interaction, it was the first introduction to the space travelers to the game.
Wait, Do Aliens Actually Exist In Fallout?
The Fallout TV show is missing one essential element from the video games, and here is how aliens could influence the show going forward.
It’s Unclear What Impact Aliens Have On Fallout Lore
It Could Be Huge, Or It Could All Be A Joke
Although the background of the Zeta aliens has been well fleshed out at this point,it’s unclear how seriously theFalloutcreators want fans to take the lore in earlier games,Mothership Zeta, and other tertiary published medialike theFallout 3 Official Game Guide, which goes into more detail about the extraterrestrial beings. According to those materials, the aliens have been around since the ’60s and have influencedfactions like the Enclaveand even theBrotherhood of Steelvia alien power cells and other technology.
Although their impact can be felt in the game, direct interactions with Aliens outside of specific content are rare. While it could explain some of the technology found in the universe, it seems like a pretty wide catch-all to explain things away, and it’s not certain whether it’s just an Easter egg or meant to be taken seriously. Regardless, it’s much more likely viewers will see Super Mutants and other more predominantFalloutcreatures before aliens ever make an appearance.
