Stardew Valleymay be a game about settling into a new pastoral life just outside Pelican Town butit seems that most players don’t care to help out the hamlet’s many citizens. Fairly early into any playthrough of ConcernedApe’s RPG, Farmers will be introduced to Quests which can be found on the notice board outside Pierre’s shop. These small missions take the form of “Help Wanted” requests posted by the locals and while theobjectives can be fairly straightforward, it turns out that most players just don’t care for them.
Posting to Reddit, userm33se_g33seshared an image revealing thatonly 9.7% of players have completed the “A Big Help” achievement on Steam, meaning that just over 90% of all PC users haven’t completed 40 Help Wanted requests.

Considering how early the system is introduced and the relative ease with which most of the challenges can be completed, having that total be so small is genuinely shocking. Of course, the community did have some valid points as to why people just don’t care to finish the missions.
Stardew Valley Quests Can Be Annoying
Pelican Town Can Be A Little Unreasonable
One of the main reasonsStardew Valleyplayers don’t care for the Help Wanted missions is the random nature of the objectives.Citizens will often request an exorbitant amount of a specific vegetable that will take longer to grow than there are days remaining in the current season. Since already-harvested crops or resources gathered before the quest was accepted don’t count toward the target amount, it can beimpossible to complete some of the challenges.
The actual quests themselves can also be extremely time-consuming:While it’s not difficult to kill 100 slimes in the Mines, doing so can take agessince the spawns are random. Given how many other chores there are for players to complete inStardew Valley, most would agree that there are better ways to spend one’s time, especially when the quest rewards aren’t all that special. At a certain point, going out of one’s way for a job that will only result in a few hundred coins simply isn’t worth the effort.

How Many Villagers Can Live On Your Stardew Valley Farm?
Stardew Valley farms can hold almost half the population of Pelican Town by utilizing the multiplayer function introduced in update 1.6.
Stardew Valley’s Quests Can Be Ignored
There Are Better Ways To Make Friends
I firmly believeStardew Valleyis one of the best games of the last decade butI have to question the existence of the Help Wanted quests. They don’t really serve much of a purpose; In fact, if they were removed, I doubt most players would even care. While they can provide a never-ending stream of content, the community is happier decorating their farms thanrunning around the mineslooking for dozens of bats to slaughter.
