Summary

Joe Bradley has had villainous moments during his time onBelow Deck Mediterraneanseason 9.Captain Sandy Yawn and Chief Stew Aesha Scott led the ninth season of theBelow Deckspin-off. After leadingBelow Deck Down Underin its first two seasons, Aesha returned to the Mediterranean-based yachting show to improve the series.Below Deck Medseason 8 was a letdownand left a bad taste in viewers’ mouths. The storyline was tainted by Tumi Mhlongo and Natalya Scudder’s feud, and none of the crew was asked back for season 9. To much surprise, the new cast has held its own.

Ushering in a new slate of yachties was an incredible decision for the show. Captain Sandy and Aesha provided a familiarity for longtime viewers, while the rest of thenew crew brought drama, entertainment, and fresh narrativesto the show.Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher’s boatmanceturned heads as Gael joined the show with a boyfriend at home. However, Joe’slove triangle with Bri Muller and Elena “Ellie” Dubaichmade waves within the crew. After a season of juggling two women, there are far too many signs indicating the lead deckhand is the villain of the season.

8Joe Has Said Mean Things About Iain

Joe Was Rude About The Bosun In His Confessionals

As the lead deckhand,Joe said rude things about his Bosun. Iain Maclean appointed Joe to the position as his right-hand man after their first meeting. Instead of waiting to promote one of the deckhands, Iain jumped the gun and chose Joe, a decision Captain Sandy wasn’t too happy about. Throughout the season, the Bosun dropped the ball on multiple occasions. He left the deck team to fend for themselves, setting up beach days and idealizing games for guests. However, Joe was rathernegative when speaking about Iain, which somewhat tainted his portrayal.

7Joe Led On Ellie And Bri

Joe Didn’t Want To Choose Either Of Them

Joe’s most villainous quality inBelow Deck Medseason 9 stems from hislove triangle with Ellie and Bri.At the start of the season, both stews expressed their interest in the deckhand. They both found him attractive, and Bri ultimately hooked up with him in the hot tub first. Before their night together, Ellie told her fellow stew how she wanted to pursue a boatmance with Joe, and she made out with him anyway. After she learned of their hook-up, Ellie began treating Bri differently. She exerted her power as a second stew and made their working environment toxic.

He knew the stews were interested in him and enjoyed the attention they awarded him.Joe admitted he wouldn’t pick between Ellie or Bri, which was rude to say on camera. They turned on each other over their mutual interest in the deckhand, and he didn’t care which woman he was intimate with.Joe didn’t take any responsibility for their feudand perpetuated it by hooking up and continuing to flirt with both stews despite knowing how they felt about the situation.

6Joe Hooked Up With Ellie In Front Of Bri

Joe Didn’t Care About Bri’s Feelings

Joe paid no mind to Bri’s feelings towards him when he made out with Ellie in the car after a night out. During the midway point of the season, after their night in the hot tub, Ellie set her sights on the deckhand. They flirted the entire night and danced together at the nightclub. When it was time to return to the Mustique,Joe and Ellie were so infatuated with each other that they failed to notice that Briand Chef Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford were in the car with them.

After their night out, they made out in the car for their entire ride to the boat. Bri and Chef Jono were seated in the front seats while Joe and Ellie had their intimate moment in the back of the van. Instead of showing decency toward the woman he’d already hooked up with, Joe only paid attention to the second stew. After the night, Bri asked Ellie not to shove their connection in her face, which she agreed to do. However,Joe should have been respectful and opted not to pursue someone else in front of her.

5Joe Is The Reason For Ellie And Bri’s Feud

Ellie & Bri First Started Fighting About Joe

Ellie and Bri’s feud ultimately started because of the lead deckhand. Joe went into the season eager to make new friends and grow as a deckhand. The stews pointed out his attractiveness almost immediately after they stepped foot onto the Mustique. Boatmances are a typical part of each season ofBelow Deck, and itmust have been flattering for Joe to have two women interested in him. Despite his wrongdoings in his relationships, he was a pretty good deckhand. Captain Sandy had no reason to fire him for his work, though he should’ve managed his issues better.

4Joe Is Still Trying To Hook Up With Bri

Joe Can’t Stop Causing Drama Among The Stews

After his night with Ellie, Joe is still trying to mend his connection with Bri. They have chemistry, whether that be platonic or romantic. The mid-season trailer teases themconsidering hooking up even after he made out with Elliein the car. However, footage also showed Ellie and Bri sitting down to discuss how Joe was “playing with both of us.” After all, Joe put her through, they’re still attracted to one another. He should focus on improving as lead deckhand instead of causing tension between Ellie and Bri.

3Joe Sang That Inappropriate Song About Them

Joe Made A Joke About Ellie & Bri In A Song

Aside from being a deckhand, Joe has a passion for performing, which he utilized to create one of the most cringe moments ofBelow Deck Medseason 9when singing a song about the stews. During a later charter in the season, Ellie was tasked with setting up a pillow fort while the deckhand was going to sign for the guests. The second stew set up for the night while Joe, unknowingly, sang a song for Iain and Nathan about his love triangle with Ellie and Bri. “Who’s it going to be,” Joe sang while naming both the stews.

Instead of keeping quiet, Ellie responded to Joe’s melody and said, “Nice song.” He had no idea she was in the room and was caught off guard by her response. Joe seemed apologetic for the tune in his confessional interviews, but he likely wouldn’t have felt bad if he hadn’t been caught. He later apologized to Ellie during the crew’s day off, but that doesn’t take away from the immaturity of his actions.Joe was playing up his love triangle for the camerasbut got brought back down to earth with Ellie’s confrontation.

Joe Was Quick To Throw Gael Under The Bus

Oddly enough, Joe got mad at Gael when Nathan took the blame for her mistakes. A guest requested to use the hot tub early one morning, and Gael thought she had turned on the hot water correctly. Later, an engineer let Nathan know all the hot water had run out and that they were working on fixing the issue. Captain Sandy was made aware of the situation, and Nathan took the fall for the incident while Gael was on break. When Joe learned about the issue, he got angry with his friend andsaid she was being treated like a “princess.”

Nathan told Gael about the hot water problem, and she immediately took responsibility for the mistake. Instead of addressing the crew, she went to Captain Sandy and expressed her remorse for leaving the water running. Joe had no idea she took the blame for the mishap and acted passive-aggressively toward her for the rest of the working day. He had no place to call Gael a “princess” and let his bruised ego get in the way of his friendship with the deckhand. Joe may have thought he was sticking up for Nathan but at the cost of throwing Gael under the bus.

1Joe Seemingly Hooks Up With The New Stew

It’s unclear where Joe’s love triangle with Ellie and Bri is heading, but there’s still much more season to come. The mid-season trailer revealedCarrie O’Neill would join the crewas a stew. During most of season 9, Aesha, Ellie, and Bri worked without an extra hand due to a leak in one of the Mustique’s cabins. When Captain Sandy suggested the idea of bringing in another stew, the Chief Stew jumped at the idea. While Carrie will be an enormous help to the interior team, the trailer hinted she’ll bring more drama to the season.

After all the drama Joe caused with the interior department, Joe seemingly hooks up with Carrie. The trailer showcases thenew stew and lead deckhand getting close after a night outand flirting with each other in front of the crew. Ellie and Bri got off on the wrong foot after the third stew’s hookup with Joe, so there’s no telling how they’ll react to his hook-up with another stew. If he does pursue things with Carrie, that would mean he’d hooked up with the entire team of stews, minus Aesha.

Joe has emerged as the true villain ofBelow Deck Medseason 9. His wishy-washy love triangle with Ellie and Bri has rubbed viewers the wrong way. Joe isn’t as innocent as he appeared at the beginning of the charter season, which hints he’s grown into a villain.
