The Mandalorian Teams Up With New Republic

10Din Djarin Now Works For The New Republic

Unofficially but effectively

Din Djarin started by taking a job for the Imperial Remnant inThe Mandalorian’s pilot episode, so it’s fitting that he ends season 3 working for the New Republic. It’s not exactly official, as Captain Carson Teva noted that it’s against regulation, but Din Djarin walked away knowing they had come to an agreement. He and Grogu can now aid the New Republic in hunting down Imperials on a case-by-case basis.

This arrangement opens countless possibilities for what kinds of threats Din Djarin and Grogu will encounter on their travels.Perhaps one of their New Republic missions will go horribly wrong, or they’ll discover a different enemy while searching for Imperials. They could even come across Grand Admiral Thrawn and his allies, though that may be saved forAhsokaseason 2 or Dave Filoni’s untitled Star Wars movie.

9Din Djarin Has Now Officially Adopted Grogu As His Apprentice

He can now train Grogu as a true Mandalorian

Another wayThe Mandalorianseason 3 brought Din Djarin and Grogu’s relationship full circle was by having them truly embrace each other as father and son.Grogu is now “Din Grogu” and a Mandalorian apprentice, with Din Djarin training him as his own teacher did. Even though this is akin to what they had before, it now has a new purpose and possibilities.

The plot of the nextStar Warsmovie could be a special quest, serving as Grogu’s rite of passage and mirroring Din Djarin’s upbringing.

Din Djarin’s mission in the first two seasons was to protect Grogu and return him to the Jedi. Now thatGrogu has matured and unlocked more of his Jedi abilities, Din Djarin can specifically focus on challenging Grogu to become a true Mandalorian. The plot of the nextStar Warsmovie could be a special quest, serving as Grogu’s rite of passage and mirroring Din Djarin’s upbringing.

8The Mandalorian Season 3 Introduced Another New Republic Agent At Adelphi Base

Zeb Orrelios is set to return in the movie

One of the fewStar Wars Rebelscharacters not featured as prominently in the Mandoverse is Zeb Orrelios, who made a brief cameo inThe Mandalorianseason 3, episode 5 “Chapter 21: The Pirate.“Zeb was a member of theGhostcrew and fought alongside rebels like Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, and Hera Syndullato resist the Galactic Empire. The Mandalorianseason 3 confirmed that he still serves the New Republic by training recruits at Adelphi Outpost.

Exclusive footage fromThe Mandalorian and Groguassured fans that Zeb will appear in the movie. It’s unclear how big a role he’ll have, but he would be a fantastic character for Din Djarin and Grogu to team up with on a mission.Zeb’s found family consisted of two Jedi and a Mandalorian, meaning all three would have much to discuss and bond over while fighting Imperials.

7The Imperial Shadow Council Is Still Plotting Against The New Republic

Any of them could serve as the movie’s villain

Moff Gideon was finally defeated inThe Mandalorianseason 3, but not before revealing the existence of anImperial Shadow Councilto the audience. The Council’s leaders appear to be Admiral Palleon, who served Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Commandant Brendol Hux, father of General Armitage Hux from theStar Warssequel trilogy. Their existence isthe perfect bridge between the Galactic Empire and the First Order.

8 Things Star Wars Has Revealed About The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie

While Star Wars has kept details about The Mandalorian and Grogu tightly under wraps, there are still 8 key things we know about the upcoming movie.

Any one of these dastardly villains would be an excellent antagonist forThe Mandalorian and Grogu. However, some reports suggest that Jonny Coyne’s “Imperial Warlord” character could be the main villain, and he may have connections to the pirates we’ve already seen inThe Mandalorian. This approach may be best, as Palleon should be saved for Thrawn and Hux will need to remain in the shadows for the First Order to rise.

6We Know Which Jedi Master Saved Grogu (But Not What Happened To Him)

Exploring the fate of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq

After Grogu was revealed to be a Jedi Temple survivor, fans began speculating which Jedi Master saved his life during Order 66. The answer finally came inThe Mandalorianseason 3, episode 4 “Chapter 20: The Foundling,” but nobody could have guessed it would be Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. Played by Ahmed Best, who portrayed Jar Jar Binks in theStar Warsprequel trilogy,Master Beq left a strong impression with little screen time.

Jedi Master Kelleran Beq first appeared in the children’s game showStar Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.

As satisfying as it was to get this answer, it also raised more questions about Grogu’s journey after Master Beq saved him. There’s a nearly 30-year gap between Order 66 andThe Mandalorianepisode 1, so what happened to Master Beq, and how did it affect Grogu? If Din Djarin is training Grogu for his future as a Mandalorian, then perhaps their movie will be about uncovering the secrets of Grogu’s past.

5Mandalore Has Been Reclaimed By Bo-Katan And Her Followers

The surviving Mandalorians were scattered and in hiding at the start ofThe Mandalorian, their population decimated and their homeworld in ruins. Thanks to Din Djarin’s determination and Bo-Katan’s leadership, the Mandalorians retook their homeworld and defeated the man responsible for its devastation. Mandalore is now set to rebuild and become a significant player in galactic politics.

Din Djarin and Grogu will surely return to Mandalore so the audience can see how the world has flourished since the end of season 3. Its fate could be central to the plot ofThe Mandalorian and Grogu, with the Imperial Shadow Council seeking retribution to stop Mandalore from becoming a greater threat. Din Djarin may seek help from Bo-Katan or the other Mandalorians, as he has done many times before.

4The Mythosaur Is Real (And Living In The Waters Of Mandalore)

A legendary creature that must return at some point

One surprising payoff inThe Mandalorianseason 3 was the Mythosaur, which was first hinted at all the way back inThe Mandalorianepisode 1.Legend says that ancient Mandalorians rode the Mythosaur, possibly foreshadowing that Din Djarin would ride one someday. Now that one is confirmed to be in the waters beneath Mandalore, it seems too good an opportunity to pass up.

Grogu has also proven himself by using the Force to connect with large creatures, including a rancor in the season finale ofThe Book of Boba Fett.If the Imperial Shadow Council, a band of pirates, or another enemy attacks Mandalore, a giant Mythosaur would be invaluable. It could also be another rite of passage for Grogu, combining his Jedi talents with a feat worthy of a Mandalorian.

3The New Republic Government Is Full Of Imperial Spies

Elia Kane is a loose end the New Republic will have to face

Despite convincing the New Republic government that she had changed,Elia Kane worked for Moff Gideon until his death. She befriended Dr. Pershing and urged him to continue his research, only to manipulate him and wipe his mind of anything that could be used against the Empire. With Gideon gone, she may have to change tactics, making her a target for Din Djarin and Grogu.

She was never directly shown working with anyone else on Coruscant, but there must be more Imperial agents within the government. The New Republic has admitted to allowing former Imperials to serve at every level of government, so there’s no telling how many are still loyal to the Empire. It would be interesting to see what tension arises if Din Djarin is forced to target New Republic officials.

2Nevarro Is Now One Of The Most Prosperous Trading Outposts In The Galaxy

The final shot of The Mandalorian season 3

Nevarro was a grimy and unfavorable place inThe Mandalorianepisode 1, a place for shady dealings and a refuge for ex-Imperials. Thanks to Greek Karga’s efforts,Nevarro is now a profitable trading outpost and a thriving community, which Din Djarin and Grogu chose to settle on between missions. This means we’ll probably see it again inThe Mandalorian and Grogu, at least in Act 1.

Of course, Nevarro’s wealth and prosperity also make it a target for pirates, as seen inThe Mandalorianseason 3. The same pirates who attacked before could seek revenge inThe Mandalorian and Grogu, allowing the film to kick off with action that raises the stakes. If the filmmakers don’t go this route,Nevarro could be where Din Djarin and Grogu meet a contact that sends them on their quest.

1Mandalorians Are More Accepting Of Tribes With Different Customs

A whole new Mandalorian society is emerging

Ever since Mandalore’s first canon appearance inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, the various Mandalorian clans have either been at war or at odds with each other. The New Mandalorians wanted peace while the Death Watch craved war, and even when Death Watch took control of the planet, they were divided on which leader to follow. Even with so few Mandalorians left after the purge, the remaining factions couldn’t put their differences aside.

Things have changed followingThe Mandalorianseason 3, with two traditionally opposed factions working together to reclaim their planet. If two groups with such radically different beliefs can find common ground, there’s no telling what kind of society they will build, or how Din Djarin and Grogu will define themselves as Mandalorians. The Mandalorianseason 3 has laid the foundation, so nowThe Mandalorian and Grogumust build on it whenStar Warsreturns to theaters.
