There are several characters from variousfantasyTV shows that deserve their own spinoffs. Fantasy TV has introduced many iconic characters, fromGame of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen toAvatar: The Last Airbender’s Katara. Memorable fantasy characters expand beyond TV as well, includinggreat fantasy book series with strong female main charactersand fantasy movie franchises with unforgettable protagonists. Some fantasy TV characters are so memorable that they deserve a chance to shine on their own.Game of Throneshas several upcoming spinoffscovering various members of House Targaryen, one of the most popular houses in Westeros (primarily attributed to Daenerys' impact). Other TV shows and movies beyond fantasy have resulted in successful spinoffs, such asXO, Kitty, andYoung Sheldon. However, several fantasy TV characters deserve their own spinoff but have not had the chance to have one yet. The reasons vary from spinoff potential to character popularity to providing closure.

10Arya Stark - Game Of Thrones

Arya Stark Should Eventually Return To Winterfell

Despite the manyGame of Thronesspinoffs in the works, none of them include House Stark. In fact, all the upcomingGame of Thronesspinoffs notably ignore House Stark—a perplexing characteristic, especially given that the original show starts and ends with them. There is also a lot of potential for a House Stark spinoff, whether in King’s Landing with King Bran, or in Winterfell with the Queen of the North, or beyond the wall with Jon Snow. Many fascinating stories also involve House Stark, including Brandon the Builder, Brandon the Breaker, and the Laughing Wolf (Rickard Stark).

Arya goes home, reunites with her family, kills the Night King, and sails west.

The Stark with arguably the most potential for a spinoff is Arya. The last two seasons ofGame of Throneswere arguably a disservice to Arya’s arc, fromGame of Thronesdownplaying Arya’s bond with Nymeriato her strange fake rivalry with Sansa in season 7 (without actually addressing any of their issues). While it was exciting forArya Stark to kill the Night King inGame of Thrones, the decision was unexpected, and its execution was underwhelming. However, the most unjust part of Arya’s arc involves where she ends up—sailing away from Westeros, heading west.

Arya’s entire story involves going home to Winterfell and reclaiming her Stark identity. While she sails west under House Stark banners, it is still baffling that she leaves the North so soon after returning. An Arya Stark spinoff would allow Arya to journey west, undergo character development, endure adventures, and eventually realize that she belongs in the North alongside Sansa. Notably,George R.R. Martin teased a project with Arya’s actor, Maisie Williams, meaning thata real Arya Stark spinoff might be in the works.

9Baela & Rhaena Targaryen - House of the Dragon

Baela & Rhaena Survive The Dance of Dragons

The majority ofHouse of the Dragon’s characters will perish before the show’s end, following the events ofFire & Blood. That includes Rhaenyra Targaryen, who will likely die at the hands of her half-brother and nemesis, Aegon Targaryen II.Aegon will become king for a brief periodbefore he dies due to poison. However, severalHouse of the Dragoncharacters will survive the Dance of Dragons, including Daemon’s daughters, Baela and Rhaena Targaryen. Baela faces death a few times, but she evades it and survives.

While Baela and Rhaena lead separate lives, both their fates are compelling enough to warrant potential spinoffs. Baela marries Alyn after he is legitimized as Alyn Velaryon, and they have a daughter, Laena. However, their marriage is unhappy, and Alyn does not remain faithful. Regardless, this spinoff would provide insight into Driftmark’s politics and how the people heal after the Targaryen Civil War. As for Rhaena, she marries twice, to Ser Corwyn Corbray and Garamund Hightower. Corbray dies before they have children, so Rhaena marries Garamund.

Rhaena’s story is particularly interesting because she is known as the last dragonrider before Daenerys Targaryen births dragons over 100 years later. Her relationship with Garmund is also fascinating because he is a Hightower, suggesting they settle in Oldtown. While Garmund’s older brother, Lyonel, is the Hightower heir,a popular theory involves the present-day Tyrells descending from Garmund because Lord Mace Tyrell marries Alerie Hightower. Although it is highly unlikely, it is still a compelling theory that provides the potential for a spinoff centering on Rhaena and her family.

8The Crows - Shadow & Bone

Netflix Canceled The Shadow & Bone Spinoff

The popular show based on Leigh Bardugo’sGrishaverseaired for two seasons beforeNetflix notoriously canceledShadow & Boneafter season 2. One of the reasons why this cancelation was widely talked about is becauseit also inevitably canceled the plans for theSix of Crowsspinoff. WhenShadow & Bonefirst premiered, the show surprisingly combined storylines from theShadow & Bonetrilogy and theSix of Crowsduology, with plans to split them into separate shows after season 2. However,Shadow & Bone’s cancelation instigated several unresolved storylines, including the iconic heist from theSix of Crowsduology.

Six of Crows: What the Canceled Shadow & Bone Spinoff Would Have Been About

Based on the Six of Crows book, we have a good idea about what the Shadow & Bone spinoff could have been about.

It is frustrating thatShadow & Bonedid not adapt the Ice Court storyline when it had the chance, and now, it will not happen. Audiences who have not read the books will not see overcoming their trauma to be together, Wylan defeating his abusive father, Jesper reuniting with his father, or Nina and Matthias reconciling. Althoughone of the writers spoke about the canceledShadow & Bonespinoff, it does not change the fact thatKaz Brekker’s Crowswill never be front and center of their own story.

7Ekko - Arcane

Arcane’s Ending Leaves Room For Ekko’s Future

Ekko’s storyline inArcaneseason 2is a fascinating twist that opens the doors for a potential Ekko spinoff. Ekko spends the majority ofArcaneseason 2in an alternate dimension where Hextech does not exist. As a result, he partners with Heimerdinger, and they establish the revolutionary Zero Drive, which explains Ekko’s time-bending powers inLeague of Legends.Ekko eventually returns to his original universe, but not without his mentor, Heimerdinger—who sacrifices himself so that Ekko can return home.

There are plans for additionalLeague of Legendsadaptations.

Ekko also loses his newfound friendship with Jinx. Despite their turbulent dynamic in the original universe, Ekko surprisingly bonds with Jinx in the alternate dimension. While Ekko’s future is uncertain, except for him surviving the war, there is still potential for a spinoff that focuses on him. An Ekko spinoff would allowEkko to grieve while moving on and finding a new purpose in life.

6Janet - The Good Place

Janet’s Role Allows Her To Encounter Various Scenarios In The Afterlife

The Good Place’s season 4 endingprovides a tone of finality for the show, but there is surprisingly potential for a spinoff. In the show’s finale, Janet takes the job of helping people residing in the Good Place pass on to the unknown.Janet’s new role provides a great premise for a spinofffocusing on her. Janet must help countless souls pass through the door, meeting many new people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Establishing stakes is also possible if Janet meets people reluctant to leave the Good Place, even when they are ready.

This premise would greatly impact her character and allow Janet to see the world differently, especially since she spent so much time with the original characters ofThe Good Place.

Janet would also have the opportunity to form new friendships and relationships, even without intending to. This premise would greatly impact her character and allow Janet to see the world differently, especially since she spent so much time with the original characters ofThe Good Place. Janet would constantly learn new things and adapt her way of thinking, sending her on fun adventures that would provide compelling storylines for a spinoff.

5Josie Saltzman - Legacies

Legacies Failed Josie Saltzman

One of fantasy TV’s most shocking character departures involvesLegacies' Josie Saltzman. There is nothing unique about Josie’s exit, quite literally—she gets on a bus inLegaciesseason 4, episode 9, “I Can’t Be the One to Stop You,” and just never returns to the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted. A later line indicates Josie simply went on vacation,an insulting narrative decision that completely disrespects Josie, Lizzie, and Hope.

Legacies

Cast

Legacies is a Supernatural Fantasy Drama created by Julie Plec and starring Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, and Aria Shahghasemi. The series if a spin-off of the show The Originals. The premise revolves around Hope Mikaelson, a character deeply rooted in the world of vampires, witches, and werewolves, as she attempts to integrate into life and the many struggles that come with it.

Josie’s exit also could not have occurred at a worse time, with Lizzie dying in the same episode and Hope’s humanity still turned off. Josie is not there for Lizzie to adapt to vampirism and her sire bond with Hope, andJosie is not there when Hope finally regains her humanity inLegacies.A Josie Saltzman spinoff would explain why she disappeared so suddenlyand potentially fix her disastrous exit. The writers ofLegaciesowe it to audiences, but more importantly, to Josie, Lizzie, and Hope.

4Kira Yukimura - Teen Wolf

Kira Yukimura Deserves Her Own Story

Teen Wolfhas made many mistakes over the years, fromtheTeen Wolfmovie failing the show’s friendshipsto Scott and Malia getting together in the final season because they were the only single characters left. However,Teen Wolf’s biggest mistake is their abhorrent treatment of Kira Yukimura.Kira is first introduced inTeen Wolfseason 3, episode 13, “Anchors,” and she becomes one of the show’s best characters—and one ofTeen Wolf’s most underappreciated characters. Kira is a Thunder Kitsune, but inTeen Wolfseason 5, she begins having problems with her powers.

Teen Wolf Season 7: Why The Show Was Really Canceled

Teen Wolf had a loyal following, and fans were shocked when MTV suddenly pulled the plug on it. Here’s why Teen Wolf ended after season 6.

Kira begins to lose control over her fox spirit, which leads her to temporarily move to New Mexico to live with Skinwalkers and train with them until she masters her Kitsune powers. This event occurs in theTeen Wolfseason 5 finale. However, the show forgets about Kira afterward, to the point where her best friend, Malia, and her boyfriend, Scott, get together, even though Scott and Kira never break up. Kira deserves her own spinoff thatportrays her time with the Skinwalkers, finally puts her front and center of the narrative, and explores great opportunities for her character.

3Mulan - Once Upon A Time

Mulan’s Story Is Not Over Yet

One ofOnce Upon a Time’s most memorable charactersis Mulan. The show introduces her in season 1, episode 2, “Broken,” and portrays her as Aurora and Phillip’s best friend.Once Upon a Time’s interpretation of Mulan is iconic, from her strong independence to her unexpected vulnerable moments. In a shocking twist, Mulan attempts to confess her romantic feelings for Aurora, only to change her mind because Aurora and Phillip are expecting a baby. Not wanting to intrude, Mulan decides to leave them and join Robin Hood to deal with her heartbreak.

Afterward, Mulan only reappears for two episodes inOnce Upon a Timeseason 5—in episode 9, “The Bear King,” and episode 18, “Ruby Slippers.” Her adventure with Merida and Ruby in “The Bear King” is a great continuation of Mulan’s arc, but “Ruby Slippers” only features Mulan as a plot device. Mulan is never seen again, prompting the realization thatOnce Upon a Timeshould have treated her better.Mulan deserves her own spinoff to find her place in the world and her own happiness.

2Sokka - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Sokka’s Future Post-Avatar: The Last Airbender Is Not As Clear As Some Of The Other Characters

Avatar: The Last Airbenderhas many comicsthat take place after the show ends, featuring stories that focus primarily on Aang and Zuko but feature other beloved characters such as Katara, Toph, Sokka, Suki, Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai. Sokka is one ofthe best characters inAvatar: The Last Airbenderand one of the most beloved.Sokka eventually became the Southern Water Tribe representative and the chairman of the United Republic Councilin Republic City. Otherwise, not much is known about his life after the show.

Avatar: The Last Airbenderhas several spinoffsalready established and in the works, including a movie of Team Avatar as adults. However, Sokka is a popular character who deserves his chance to shine. There should be a spinoff featuring Sokka and his adventures as he grows.Sokka’s spinoff would be funny, entertaining, and a great reminder of whyAvatar: The Last Airbenderis so special.

1Tabitha Tate - Riverdale

Tabitha Tate Deserved Better

Riverdaleseason 5 introduces Pop’s granddaughter, Tabitha Tate. She comes to live in Riverdale to take over Pop’s, but she gets involved in the town’s mysteries and shenanigans. WhileRiverdaleutilizes her in seasons 5 and 6, the show treats her abysmally in season 7. Tabitha gains the ability to time travel, which allows her to save everyone and transport them to the 1950s. However, Tabitha is rarely present during season 7. According toCollider,Riverdaleseason 7 treats Tabitha like a plot device rather than her own character.

Tabitha barely appears until the penultimate episode and only does to restore everyone’s memories. She barely has an independent arc, and not much is known about where she goes after restoring her friends' memories other than to the present day. Tabitha deserves her own spinoffto provide closure to her arc while allowing her to go on her own fantasy adventures as a time traveler. This spinoff would also illustrate Tabitha’s irreplaceability and why her character is so important and compelling.
