The dearth of magic items thatBaldur’s Gate 3boasts is impressive, and many of these items are specifically intended to be used by monks. Monk is, in my opinion, one of the most fun classes in the game, and the novelty of killing enemies with a single, strong punch will never wear off. Many items can aid this strong punch in the game, but a few stand out as particularly useful.
Many of the best items for monks are found in Act Three, but that doesn’t mean the first two acts are bereft of useful things. Monk is unique in that it gains bonuses not only for weapon attacks but also for unarmed attacks; you can take advantage of your natural dexterity by delivering powerful hits to your opponents while also having quite a few defensive options.BG3’s monk subclassesi.e. the Ways of Open Hand, Four Elements, and Shadow, all have different traits and features, so which items are best for you might depend slightly on which subclass you choose.

10Armor of Uninhibited Kushigo
A Common Armor Piece That Boosts Patient Defense
The Armor of Uninhibited Kushigo is part of a set that can all be found in Act One. This armor isgiven as a reward for the “Find the Missing Boots” quest in the Underdark; after giving Sergeant Thrinn’s boots back at Grymforge, it’s one of the reward options she offers you. The armor itself allows you to use your reaction to make an unarmed attack roll against anyone who misses you with a melee attack while using Patient Defense.
Baldur’s Gate 3: All Ritual Spells, Ranked
Baldur’s Gate 3 has nine amazing spells that don’t need the party to spend precious spell slots to gain their benefits, but which is the most useful?
9Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo
The Second Piece Of The Kushigo Set Buffs Your Unarmed Strike
The Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo are another item that works particularly well for monks;when you have them equipped, add your WIS modifier to the damage to your unarmed strikes. While that does only add up to five extra damage maximum, this is yet another way to do just a lick more damage with your strong punches. Because WIS is your key stat as a monk anyway, boosting your Ki abilities and AC as long as you’re not wearing armor.
Your ability modifier increases every two points above 10. So, if your WIS score is 12, your modifier is +1. If your score is 14, your modifier is +2, and so on. This pattern stops once your ability score reaches 20, which is the effective max for every stat but AC.

You can find these boots on Prelate Lir’i’c, who is one of the Gith that attack you in the Astral Plane right after finishing Act Two. You’ll get a nighttime cutscene before you enter Baldur’s Gate, where the Emperor will summon you to the Astral Plane. Here, you’ll fight Prince Orpheus' loyalists who protect him in his stasis. If you defeat them, you can pick up these boots off one of the felled enemies.
8Garb of the Land and Sky
Boosts Your Offense And Defense
The Garb of the Land and Sky is a fantastic all-around option for monks, giving you +1 to AC and a few other benefits. This clothing item gives youBlade Wardwhile you’re using Patient Defense, making you resistant to Piercing, Slashing, and Bludgeoning damage. Additionally, your Step of the Wind will also be buffed. After you use Step of the Wind, your next attack roll will have an advantage and gain 1d8 Force damage.
With how many buffs this item offers, it’s an excellent option for someone who wants to play Monkbut doesn’t want to hunt down items for a specific build. This clothing is found in Act Three, at Danthelon’s Dancing Axe. This shop is in Wyrm’s Crossing and will cost you 800 GP. If you have nothing else you’re wearing by the time you start Act Three, this clothing is a good choice for any monk.

7Sentient Amulet (Very Rare)
Save A Ghostly Monk And Avoid The Laughing Curse
The Sentient Amuletcan be picked up in Act Two, in the same place in Grymforge where you encounter the Fire Elemental, and comes with a slight inconvenience unless you properly finish the quest associated with it. You’ll be able to castShatteronce per long rest, but unless you take the amulet to the Temple of the Open Hand in Act Three and defeat the monk possessing it, you’ll need to succeed on a WIS save whenever you cast the spell. If you fail, you’ll fall into uncontrollable laughter until you can pass the save.
Alongside giving you the ability to cast Shatter, you’ll also gain Ki Restoration, which allows you to restore Ki points during battle. This is super useful for monks, allowing them to use their bonus actions more often and consistently providing more resources between long rests. If you finish the amulet’s quest in Act Three, the amulet will restore even more Ki points than before.

6Scabby Pugilist Circlet
One Of The Few Options Monks Have For Headware
The Scabby Pugilist Circlet is a pretty simple item that only shows up in Act Three, so you’ll likely have found something else to wear that you like better, but if not, this piece is a pretty good placeholder.you’re able to buy it from Mattis near the Requisitioned Barn, but he has to survive until Act Three for it to be available.
While you’re saving Mattis, you should check outBGP’s video on YouTube explaining how to save all the tieflings in the game. The Circlet provides two extra damage to your Unarmed Strikes when two or more foes surround you. It’s good for any melee fighter, particularly your monk, as it will provide an upside to being outnumbered in a fight.

5Vest of Soul Rejuvination
Armor of Uninhibited Kushigo, But Better
The Vest of Soul Rejuvenation is a defensive clothing item that provides basically the same effects as the Armor of Uninhibited Kushigo but a bit stronger. When you succeed a Saving Throw against any spell, you’ll heal for 1d4 damage.you’re able to also use your reaction to make an unarmed strike against an enemy that misses you with a melee attack, and it increases your AC by two. This is a consistent way to keep your monk alive, thanks to its marginal healing, while also allowing you to get out a bit more damage per turn.
This clothing is a bit complicated to get,as who sells it depends on Rolan and Lorroakan’s status. If Rolan dies, you can buy it from Lorroakan’s Projection in Sorcerous Sundries. If they’re both alive, you can buy it from Rolan, who takes the place of the Projection.

If Rolan is alive, and you’ve killed Lorroakan, you’re able to use the “trade” option to buy it from him during the dialogue in Razmith’s Tower. If you, like me, prefer to keep Rolan alive, check outA Human Justiciar’s video on YouTube to ensure you do the quest properly.
4Helldusk Gloves
Punch Even Harder, Now With Necrotic Damage
The rare gloves are a direct update to theFlawed Helldusk Glovesyou can get from Dammon and can be obtained by defeating Harleep in the House of Hope in Act Three. The gloves retain all the abilities of the flawed version while providing some additional bonuses. They still allow you to cast Rays of Fire once per short rest. They also add 1d6 Necrotic Damage to your unarmed strikes. The flawed version and normal version of these gloves give you a +1 bonus to STR while adding 1d6 Fire damage to your weapon attacks.
3Amulet of Greater Health
While It’s An All-Around Powerful Item, Extra Health Is Useful For Melee Fighters
TheAmulet of Greater Healthis a super powerful item for any party member, as it sets your CON to 23, increasing your health significantly. As a monk, your health increases by five, plus your CON modifier each time you level up.With your CON maxed out, your health will be much higher, allowing you to stay in dangerous combat longer and do more punching in classic monk style.
The amulet also gives you an advantage on CON saving throws, though the in-game tooltip reads “Advantage on Constitution Saving Throws Checks”

In order to grab this amulet, you’ll need to make your way into the House of Hope’s Archive, where you’ll be able to find theOrphic Hammerif you didn’ttake Raphael’s deal inBG3.
If you pass all the checks around the item, you’ll notice the pedestal it’s on has a pressure sensor, which will activate an alarm if the amulet is taken. If you place an item of equal weight on the pedestal in turn-based mode, you should be able to grab the amulet without setting off any alarms. If you’re not quite sure how to do this, check outNicoGamingLive’s video on YouTube for a full walkthrough.

2Snow-Dusted Monastery Gloves
Do Some Cold Damage And Cast An Extra Spell
Most Monks can’t do magic, so while these gloves don’t provide much extra damage, the Snow-Dusted Monastery Gloves widen your repertoire a bit. You’ll deal an extra 1d4 Cold damage per Unarmed Strike and also gain the ability to castScroll of Ice Knifeone time per Long Rest. This is a small buff in the grand scheme of things, and to be honest, it’s not as strong as some of the other glove options for monks, but it will allow you to have one more spell under your belt.
1Gloves of Soul-Catching
The Strongest Gloves All Around For Monks, Pair Well With The Vest Of Soul Rejuvination
The Gloves of Soul-Catching are necessary to turn your Way of Open Hand monk into an absolute punching machine. These gloves add 1d10 Force damage to all of your unarmed attacks, and you heal 10 damage once per turn as well whenever you use an unarmed strike.
Not only will you be able to heal, but if you don’t need to heal, you can choose to use this effect to instead give advantage to all your attacks and saves for a full turn. Finally, these gloves also boost your CON by two, adding to your maximum health.

If you didn’t pick up the Amulet of Greater Health at the House of Hope, you should at least take the time to ensure you get it. All you have to do isrescue Hope from Raphael’s dungeonand win in his epic boss fight, and she’ll reward you with the gloves as thanks. The House of Hope is one of the hardest areas inBaldur’s Gate 3to clear, but anyone playing monk will want to take the time to grab these truly powerful gloves.
