Fallout: Londonis a DLC-sized mod forFallout 4created by Team FOLON, a group of game enthusiasts dedicated to creating and re-imagining the world ofFallout 4,and it includes a few early-game weapons that can really give you an advantage. According to Team FOLON, the lower number of guns inFallout: Londonis unrelated to the real-world UK gun regulations. Despite this,Team FOLON leans a bit more into haberdashery and hodge-podge, do-it-yourself makeshift and melee weapons, with some of the best weapons in the game leaning more towards the medieval.

Maintaining the base game’s post-apocalyptic flair, Team FOLON takes the signatureFalloutflavor and extracts it from the hills of the USA, taking players to industrial London instead. FollowFallout: London’s new lore, meet new factions, and find new weapons in this free-to-play mod that is available to play now. With all this new content, it’s tricky to know the strongest weapons. If you’re unsure what weapons to pick up as you play, here are some of the better ones to choose early on.

Fallout London Mod Gameplay Trailer: 10 Biggest Takeaways

For the first time, the Fallout series is moving outside the United States via an impressive, sprawling Fallout 4 mod called Fallout London.

10Your Fists

No Guns? No Problems.

After you exit your capsule, much like in the originalFallout 4,no weapons can be found. You’re lost, scared, and armed with nothing but your fists, so your fists must do. This isn’t the best option, butyour fists are all you’ll have for a few early encounters.Thankfully, the prologue of this mod is only stocked with low-level mutants, so your trusty hands will be enough to see you through.

Though you don’t yet have a firearm, you can collect some ammo for later on as you explore the laboratory.

Not only are the enemies before you gain your first real weapon pretty weak, but you may also run away from fights if you’re not sure you can win.Use VATs mode to check your opponents out and decide if the struggle is worth the XP they reward. Keep following the quests' instructions, leading you to your first real weapon.

9Molotov

Deal 30 Damage, But Only Once

Once you’ve escaped the labs, you’ll find yourself in the London Shard with few options to defend yourself. Thankfully, this open area has quite q few materials for you to pick up,including the Molotov Cocktail that is located in the ground-floor public toilets. This makeshift weapon is thrown like a grenade, and is useful for taking out or damaging larger groups of enemies. If you’re confident in your fisticuff prowess, you can take on the small group of roaches in the Shard with your fists, but otherwise chuck the Molotov at them and call it a day.

Though the Molotov was recently nerfed in an update, the weapon is still pretty useful. While the Molotov’s radius is now 20 percent lower compared to its previous impact area (500 reduced to 400), and its base damage has been reduced from 50 to 30, you can still do considerable damage over time. Additionally, the firey impact provides a little bit of area-control, allowing you to do damage to cloistered enemies while you deal with more pressing attackers.

8The Balisong

16 Damage Is Nothing To Sneeze At

When you unlock the main quest, “On the Mend,” you’re going to start finding many more weapons of all types. As you begin exploring London, you’ll meet Sebastian Guant, who will give you a Balisong knife that deals 16 damage. He’ll give it to you no matter what choices you pick here, so you’re free to say what you want.

Its attacks are pretty quick, so if you’re not a fan of a slower melee weapon, pick this one for higher SPS (slices per second.)You can also pause fights by opening the ATTAboy to swap weapons,so if the Balisong isn’t working for you, you can switch it at any time. Either way, a free knife is a free knife, and this one is a pretty good weapon to start with.

Right after you reach the ticket gates at the London Bridge Station, you’ll be able to pick up your first true weapon: the Walking Cane. You might as well equip it right awaybecause it deals a hefty 17 damage. This is better than your bare hands and will set you up better for encounters moving forward.

As you follow the main quest, you’ll find the Thamesfolk in their hideout underground. As you explore, you’ll make your way to the southern entrance of the old tube station. In this station, follow the flooded tunnels until you reach a few tin-can chain alarms, which mark someone’s old abode.

Once you complete this step of the main quest, the Thamesfolk will open their store to you. Their wares include firearms, so keep this in mind as you earn tickets and play.

Inside, you’ll find a bed and a cooking setup.Check the bedside table for the Flare Gun and a few flares. This unconventional firearm isn’t necessarily the best for damage. It fires and reloads pretty quickly, but it gets the job done as one of the first ranged weapons you’ll pick up. To see it in action, look atBenjamin’s video on YouTube.

After a tutorial of you and your fists against the world, you can grab (read: steal) your first gun from a store right before you enter the ticket gates leading to the Shard. Exiting the Shard lab, check the first store on the left by the ticket gate. Head behind the counter and pick the novice-level lock on the safe below it to grab the 9mm Pistol and six rounds for it as well.

These six rounds won’t last forever, but you should have picked some more up in the lab you just left. Regardless, the lack of ammo is a pretty limiting factor when considering the usefulness of this weapon.

After picking up the 9mm Pistol around the London Bridge Station, head back towards the ticket booth. There’s a door to the right here that leads to the preservation center. This door does require you to be a little stronger to open it, but once you’ve got it popped open, you’ll be able to grab the Service Rifle inside.

The Service Rifle doesn’t do a ton of damage, but it’s a great weapon to keep ahold of until you can grab or craft something a bit stronger.

Between the 9mm and the Service Rifle, you’ll find yourself running a bit low on ammo. To conserve, save your bullets to chunk down larger enemies or take them out in one hit, using your melee weapons to supplement them in the middle of fights. Many of the enemies inFallout Londoncan feel a little bullet-sponge-y, sokeeping tabs on how much ammo you’re using will help ensure you’ve got bullets when you need them most.

Once you’ve completed the Thameshaven area, you’ll be introduced to the Arthurtian faction inFallout London. This is one of a fewnew factions inFalloutand introduces some new faces. You’ll be given the option to befriend the faction as you interact with them more, and once you do, you’ll have access to the Swan and Mitre, a pub nearby.Next to the pub is a small building containing some junk and trash, but also the Longsword.

If you stick around with the Arthurian faction long enough, you can also pick up a set of armor to go with your sword. Really get into character as a knight of the Round Table with the full getup, or rock a more modern weapon alongside the historical armor. No matter your choice, the Longsword is a great addition to your melee repertoire. To see the weapon in more detail, watchKnightRaven’s video on YouTube.

2Hans' Flamethrower

You Get A Flamethrower, And Hans Can Live

The “Das Boote von Anderen” questwill see you submerged in the waters of the Thames in an effort to help out the crew of the German U-96 submarine, and you’ll be rewarded with Hans' Flamethrower at the end.

This weapon does more damage the more withdrawal effects you’re suffering, so if you’re already a player who’s not afraid of a little affliction, the flamethrower is for you. Check out the weapon in full detail inKnightRaven’s YouTube video, and make sure to keep an eye out for the submarine in the Thames to initiate the quest.

1Hans' Luger

Say Goodbye To Hans In Order To Take His Weapon

Also during the “Das Boote von Anderen” quest, you may grab Hans' Luger from him, but you’ll have to kill him first. At any point in the quest, though it’s recommended to wait until the end so that the quest doesn’t break, you cankill Hans to take his Luger to add to your arsenal.Unfortunately, or fortunately, if you’re not a fan of Hans, this pistol is one of the strongest weapons in the game, so grabbing it and upgrading it is in your best interest if you’re struggling in combat.
