Marvel Animation’s upcomingMarvel Zombiesseries is the best place forDeadpool & Wolverine’sstrangest Deadpool variant to be explored in more detail. Even thoughMarvel Zombiesis expected to be set in an alternate timeline to the main continuity of theMCU, the much anticipated series will still include several characters that have already been seen in live-action.Marvel Zombies’cast of charactersincludes the likes of Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova and more, and could now include none other than Deadpool himself.

Set primarily in the Void at the End of Time,Deadpool & Wolverineintroduced some brilliant and entertaining variants of its titular heroes. While Wolverine’s variants called back to some major Marvel Comics stories,Deadpool’s variants mostly comprised the Deadpool Corps, who worked for Emma Corrin’s villainous Cassandra Nova. Members such as Lady Deadpool, Babypool, Zenpool and Deadpool 2099 were fantastic to see in live-action, butone variant, in particular, has a clear path to return to the MCU and get more development.

I Can’t Believe We Missed Out On The Best Deadpool & Wolverine Variant But I Know How He Can Join The MCU

The first look at the major variant that was cut from Deadpool & Wolverine reveals what was lost, but there’s a way for him to still come to the MCU.

Headpool’s Origins Weren’t Explained In Deadpool & Wolverine

Among the Deadpool Corps was Headpool, an undead decapitated version of Deadpool from an alternate world, who flies around using small helicopter blades, and has retained the ability to speak.Headpool is one of the weirdest characters not only seen inDeadpool & Wolverine, but in the entire MCU. In Marvel Comics, Headpool originates in theMarvel Zombiesuniverse, which inspired Marvel Animation’sWhat If…?season 1, episode 5, “What If… Zombies?!,” and will be revisited in theMCU’s upcomingMarvel Zombiesseries.

Prior toDeadpool & Wolverine’srelease, some theorized Headpool could be the version of Deadpool who was decapitated in 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverine, but this iteration of the character was not mentioned at all.

The Deadpool Corps shooting in Deadpool & Wolverine

AfterDeadpool & Wolverine,Marvel Zombieshas the perfect opportunity to answer some burning questions concerning Headpool.Deadpool & Wolverinedid nothing to explain where this variant was from, why he is the way he is, or what he did to get pruned by the Time Variance Authority and sent to the Void. Headpool was a prominent member of theDeadpool Corps in Marvel Comics, so it was great to see him included inDeadpool & Wolverine, but his debut in the MCU has raised more questions aboutMarvel Zombies’world that need to be answered in the series.

Marvel Zombies Can Establish Deadpool As A Prominent Character In The MCU After Deadpool & Wolverine’s Success

If Headpool appears inMarvel Zombies, perhaps even being given a pivotal role in the upcoming series,Marvel Studios could begin to establish Deadpool as a central character in the MCU. This would be beneficial for his eventual merging with the MCU and joining with Marvel’s notable heroes, as he is still currently residing in Earth-10005. AfterDeadpool & Wolverine’smonumental success, there’s no doubt Ryan Reynolds will be back as the Merc with a Mouth, and this could be hinted at again if Headpool returns inMarvel Zombies.
